Most of the digital cameras have multiple shooting modes like AV which is particularly useful in choosing the depth of the entire captured area followed by Tv which stands for shutter priority which can help you in better controlling the shutter speed and is useful in capturing fast moving subjects like in sports and the Program mode which is more relying on automation to adjust the aperture as well as the shutter speed. If you do not have much knowledge about the Av or Tv mode it is a good idea to use the Program mode which would auto-set both of these settings according to the type of the image which you are trying to capture.
Most of the people think that since they are trying to become professional photographers they can edit each and every setting according to their requirement. In most of the cameras, the settings which are pre-defined work perfectly fine for taking good quality photos. A good example of this is the White balance. Instead of manually setting it you can opt for the Auto White Balance option which would be able to do it for you.
