Photo submission for Monthly Show and Tell and Quarterly Challenge

(updated 2010-05-20)

In the past we have been inundated with photo submission for our monthly Show and Tell and have had a insufficient time to prepare them for showing as well as a difficult time in providing adequate time for showing all of them.  It is not fair to our submitters for us to arbitrarily decide what to show and what not.  So, we are going to give that option to you.

When you submit your images for Show and Tell and/or the Quarterly Photo Challenge, please using the following naming scheme:

j_newton_1.jpg - Your first initial, an underscore, your last name, an underscore, and a sequence number.  No other descriptive test or characters. Only what is shown in the example.

The sequence number would indicate the priority which you assign to the image. So if you submit three images and we have so many submission that we have to prune the number of images to say 2, then we would select the following images:

j_newton _1.jpg and j_newton_2.jpg

Image j_newton_3.jpg would not be shown.

Please note the use of all lower case characters. This is important for sorting by the computer.

Additionally, we need to keep the size of the image to one which the computer, projector, and web site can handle.  Maximum length of 1024 pixels on the longest dimention.   JPG format is the desired file format, but we can work with GIF and PNG.  No RAW, PSD, TIF, or PDF formats please.

In order to prepare the files and the Show and Tell and Quarterly Photo Challenge presentations, we need to receive all images by close of business on the Monday before the meeting.  Any images received, for Show and Tell or the Quarterly Challenge, after Monday will be held until the following month. We will be unable to receive and process images at the meeting.

To facilitate getting the images to us, there is a form in the Users Menu for Show and Tell Submission as well as one for Photo Challenge.  To access this menu and form, you will have to be a registered member and have registered on the site.

Thank you,
